I love this video, I think it basically sums up why a lot of kids hate French and don't take it past Grade 9, and also sums up many experiences I had with the French instruction.

To Be and to Have (Etre et Avoir)
In the French documentary "To be and to have" a.k.a. Etre et Avoir, M. Lopez teaches students ranging from 4-10, in a rural school house in France. I think this film really shows the natural progression of how French is taught to native speakers. As a second language teacher I feel sometimes the systems of conjugation and memorization that we use don't always work because its not as natural as first language learning. This film really gave me a lot of insight into not only French language teaching but how language instruction should be taught in a way to provide negotiation and playing with different forms. What I love most about this film is the community Lopez builds with his students and the life lessons he teaches.

Premiere Post!!!!
First day of an amazing course, what an adventure through the web that is the internet. I thought it was just for spam and various lols, but educators are using it everyday!!! What an interesting eye opening experience of how we should be teaching and getting kids engaged in material without fireworks or candy.
